In Africa and America, SMK sisters, having taken a vow of Poverty, live and work in challenging conditions, praying and serving those in need. We ask you to consider donating both your prayers and your treasure to help us in our work.

For the most part, Sisters of Mary of Kakamega work in impoverished conditions. The wooden benches and table you see above, are the actual outdoor dining room of an SMK orphanage. The Sister you see grading earth is preparing the floor of a new dormitory for children living under the care of the dear Sisters.

Once completing their Novitiate, Sisters of Mary go forth to serve some rather remote locations in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan, and now, the United States. Above, left, are novices in training to become Sisters at the Novitiate in Kenya. The Sister in the above left picture has just arrived at her community by means of the local taxi common in East Africa, Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, called, in Swahili, a boda boda.
